Secretary Gutierrez spent nearly thirty years with the Kellogg Company, a global manufacturer and marketer of well-known food brands. After assignments in Latin America, Canada, Asia, and the United States, he became President and CEO in 1999, becoming the youngest CEO in the company’s hundred-year history. In April 2000, he was also named Chairman of the Board of the Kellogg Company.
Secretary Gutierrez currently serves on the boards of MetLife, Occidental Petroleum Corporation, the Boao Forum for Asia, and TheDream.US. He previously served on the Boards of Exelon Corporation, PwC, Time Warner, Corning Incorporated, United Technologies, Colgate-Palmolive, and the National Foreign Trade Council (Chairman).
Born in Havana, Cuba, his family fled to the US when he was six years old. Based in Washington, D.C., Secretary Gutierrez continues to shape the worlds of business, trade, and diplomacy, leaving an indelible mark on each domain through his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to global progress.
